SDB II Test Success

written by WOFA | October 13, 2009

The Boeing and Lockheed Martin teaming have successfully completed a risk reduction program on their Small Diameter Bomb II program with a successful test on September 29.

The test involved the bomb being released from an F-15E over the Eglin AFB range and tracking a moving target through its datalink and tri-mode seeker before hitting the target.

Boeing and Lockheed Martin are competing with Raytheon on the SDB II. The 120kg SDB II is planned to enter service early next decade.
