Alpine Aerotech says it has secured a supplementary type certificate from Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) for its digital flight instrument kit used on the Bell 212 helicopter for day/night visual flight rules (VFR).
The helicopter maintenance and product development company said in a statement on Tuesday (Canadian time) the digital flight instrument kit was “specifically designed to replace expensive, unreliable heading and attitude indicators with robust digital versions that have no moving parts to wear out”.
“In addition to the former analog attitude and heading gauges, the installer can also remove the tarsyn/rate gyros, flux valve, remote compensator, compass control, and all associated wiring leaving less components to fail in service,” Alpine Aerotech said.
“The kit also includes all installation provisions to create a near plug and play solution that requires only minor structural modifications.”
Further, there was also a two-year warranty on all instruments and components.
Alpine Aerotech said the STC from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency and United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was pending.
“Average lead times for ADI/HSI/Gyro repairs are approaching four months, and parts are getting more expensive daily,” Alpine Aerotech manager of avionics Tod Lansing said in the statement.
“This kit will provide hours of reliable, low-maintenance operation and will ultimately be ready for immediate delivery on request.”
